16 березня 2023 року, з благословення Святійшого Патріарха Київського і всієї Руси України Філарета, єпископ Філадельфійський Лука (Згоба) відкрив молитвою першу сесію міської ради Філадельфії (Сполучені Штати Америки).
У своїй промові архіпастир звернувся до президента міської ради п. Даррелла Кларка та депутатів ради міста Філадельфії.
Єпископ Лука та депутати міської ради помолилися за країну, Сполучені Штати Америки, за Президента Джо Байдена, за американські збройні сили та за всіх, хто має цивільну владу. Згадали пам’ять про отців-засновників США та всіх тих, хто віддав своє життя за свободу.
Архіпастир помолився за Україну і український народ, який зараз терпить великі страждання через повномасштабну російську агресію.
«Молімося за всіх, хто сьогодні у світі, особливо за страждальний український народ, який бореться за свободу, якою ми користуємося щодня. За це прекрасне місто Філадельфія, і за кожне місто та країну, і за вірних, що в них живуть», – сказав владика.
Єпископ Лука помолився за депутатів міської ради Філадельфії та закликав завжди дякувати Господеві за Його милості і щедроти.
Після своєї промови та молитви єпископ Лука нагородив міську раду Філадельфії Благословенною Грамотою Святійшого Патріарха Київського і всієї Руси-України Філарета.
За підтримку України архіпастир також вручив президенту Філадельфійської міської ради п. Дареллу Кларку та депутату міської ради п. Браяну О’Нілу – медаль «За жертовність і любов до України».
Також цього дня єпископ Лука відвідав офіс великого друга Вікаріату, колишнього депутата міської ради Філадельфії Девіда Оха, благословив усіх працівників офісу, побажав їм міцного здоров’я та успіхів у їхніх добрих справах.

Today on March 16, 2023 Bishop of Philadelphia Luke (Zhoba) has opened the first Meeting of the Philadelphia City Council with the prayer.
In his speech he addressed himself to Council President Clarke, Members of the City Council, Brothers and Sisters in the City of Philadelphia:
I am Bishop of Philadelphia Luke, Rector of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral Kyiv Patriarchate, located in Northern Liberties.
Today, Thursday, March 16, 2022, at this meeting of the esteemed members of the Philadelphia City Council, I am honored to give the invocation. I thank Councilman Brian O’Neill for the invitation to be here with you this morning.
Let us bow our heads now as we pray to the Lord:
For this wonderful country, the United States of America, for our President, Joe Biden, for our armed forces, and for all those in civil authority.
In memory of the Founding Fathers and all those who gave their lives for our freedom.
For all those in the world today, especially the suffering people in Ukraine, who are fighting for the freedoms we enjoy every day.
For this beautiful city of Philadelphia, and for every city and country, and for the faithful dwelling in them.
For you, the members of the Philadelphia City Council.
Let us pray to the Lord for His mercy, guidance and grace.
Apostle Paul writes in Romans Chapter 8, verse 28 “…we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.”
After his speech & prayer Bishop Luke awarded City Council of Philadelphia with a special award from His Holiness Patriarch Philaret.
He personally awarded golden medal “For Sacrifice and love to Ukraine” from his Holiness Patriarch of the whole Rus-Ukraine Philaret for support to Ukraine to the President of Philadelphia City Council Darrell L. Clarke.
Also he awarded golden medal from “For Sacrifice and love to Ukraine” from his Holiness Patriarch of the whole Rus-Ukraine Philaret for his help and advice to district councilman Braian O`Neill.
Bishop Luke for a long period collaborated with councilman-at-large David Oh, who has recently resigned from his office due to electoral campaign, and he blessed his office, colleagues for every success, good health & good luck in all their commitments.
