Як стало відомо, чиновники Офісу Президента України, на вимогу керівництва Православної Церкви України та представників Константинопольського Патріархату, прийняли рішення не запрошувати Героя України, Святійшого Патріарха Київського і всієї Руси-України Філарета на офіційні святкові заходи з нагоди 30-річчя Незалежності України. Це перший ганебний випадок за три десятиріччя існування нашої держави. Навіть ставленик Москви Віктор Янукович не опускався до такої підлої зневаги морального авторитета української нації.

Патріарх Філарет – символ боротьби за церковну незалежність, зразок справжнього українського державника. Дискримінація щодо нього є індикатором того, наскільки теперішня влада є щирою в бажанні утверджувати незалежність нашої країни, зміцнювати її суверенітет і могутність.

Кричущий цинізм такого рішення влади полягає у тому, що на ювілей народження Української держави не запросили того, хто першим розпочав боротьбу за автокефалію Української Православної Церкви, за що отримав анафему від Москви, збудував справді незалежну помісну церкву – УПЦ Київського Патріархату, що дало можливість говорити про надання томосу. Його Святість зробив найбільше для духовної незалежності українського народу, його голос надихав на боротьбу за нашу свободу у найбільш драматичні моменти історії – Майдану та активної фази російсько-української війни.

Наведений факт відсутності запрошення Патріарху Філарету сприймаємо, як продовження антиукраїнських спроб ізолювати його від життя суспільства, намагання дискредитувати в очах громадськості та переписати новітню історію державотворення.

Можливе існування негласних цензурних списків, своєрідних «темників», де рекомендовано замовчувати діяльність найстарішого та найзаслуженішого українського православного архієрея, незламного борця за повну незалежність Української Церкви, вважаємо антидемократичним і неприпустимим. Цьому радіють лише вороги України, зокрема, у Москві. Це дає їм підстави говорити про наявність зовнішнього управління нашою державою.

Неправильною та небезпечною є практика вшанування чужих патріархів за рахунок приниження свого, київського.

Рішуче протестуємо проти безпрецедентного тиску та демонстративного ігнорування справжнього патріота України, великого Пастиря українського народу – Патріарха Філарета.

Закликаємо владу припинити цю негативну, антидержавну політику, а всі патріотичні сили – згуртуватися навколо українського Патріарха.

Не дамо зневажити Святійшого Патріарха Філарета, а в його особі і всю українську державницьку ідею та її борців.

Statement regarding Patriarch Philaret blatantly not being invited to official events on the occasion of the Anniversary of Ukraine’s Independence

It has come to our attention that the Office of the President of Ukraine, at the request of the leadership of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine and representatives of the Patriarchate of Constantinople, made the decision not to invite the Hero of Ukraine, His Holiness Patriarch of Kyiv and All Rus-Ukraine Philaret to official celebrations of Ukraine’s Independence. This is the first shameful incident in three decades of our state’s existence. Even Moscow’s protege Viktor Yanukovych did not succumb to such vile contempt for the moral authority of the Ukrainian nation.

Patriarch Philaret is a symbol of the struggle for church independence and an example of a true Ukrainian statesman. Discrimination against him is an indication of how sincere the current government is in its desire to assert the independence of our country, to strengthen its sovereignty and power.

The blatant cynicism of the authorities’ decision is that on the anniversary of the birth of the Ukrainian state, theychose not to invite the first person to start the struggle for autocephaly of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (for which he received anathema from Moscow)and then went on to build a truly independent local church –the UOC Kyiv Patriarchate — which had the opportunity to contribute to the provisos of Tomos. His Holiness did the most for the spiritual independence of the Ukrainian people. His voice inspired the struggle for our freedom in the most dramatic moments of history – the Maidan and the active phase of the Russian-Ukrainian war.

We perceive the fact of the absence of an invitation to Patriarch Philaret as a continuation of anti-Ukrainian attempts to isolate him from the life of society, attempts to discredit him in the eyes of the public and rewrite the recent history of state formation.

We consider the existence of unspoken censorship lists anti-democratic and unacceptable – in essence, a kind of “dungeon” to silence the activities of the oldest and most deserving Ukrainian Orthodox bishop, an indomitable fighter for the full independence of the Ukrainian Church. Only the enemies of Ukraine, in particular, thosein Moscow, are happy. This gives them reason to talk about the existence of external governance of our state.

The practice of honoring foreign patriarchs by humiliating one’s own, Kyiv, is wrong and dangerous.

We strongly protest the unprecedented pressure and demonstrative disregard for the true patriot of Ukraine, the great Shepherd of the Ukrainian people – Patriarch Philaret.

We call on the authorities to stop this negative, anti-state policy, and we call on all patriotic forces to unite around the Ukrainian Patriarch.

We will not allow His Holiness Patriarch Philaret to be despised, and in his person, the entire Ukrainian state vision and its fighters.
